So, I'm a football fan. And the Madrid Derby in only the Round of 16? This game was crazy. Real Madrid won the first leg 2-1 with all 3 goals being absolute bangers. Rodrygo, Diaz, and Julian Alvarez all scored. But the 2nd leg was where a ton of action took place. Atletico scored in the 30th second with a goal to level the game from Gallagher, and Vini missed a penalty. And it was BAD. like really BAD. But anyways, the game went to extra time, and then the PENALTY SHOOTOUT. The shootout was normal, and super tense, until Julian Alvarez scored a penalty while he slipped. And the penalty was ruled out for double touch.

So apparently, when he slipped, his other foot hit the ball, so it was double touch. Now, I get that it is double touch, but the thing that annoys me is the fact that if VAR never mentioned this, then the game would go on, and no one would notice. Which begs the question, is VAR unnecessary? Now the part of VAR that does the goal line technology and offside is fine, but this takes it too far. I think that the officials should have let it slide, because if they called every single tiny thing like this, then the game would be uninteresting. Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy Real Madrid made it to the Quarterfinals, I like Real Madrid, but this is just too much. So yeah, tell me if you agree and if you guys are excited for the rest of the Champions League!
